Disposable respirators are certified and divided by:

filter types, e.g. N (N series: not for oil)
efficiency level, e.g. 95

Common applications:

N95: contruction, cement, sweeping, sanding, grinding, lumber, mills, textiles, buffing, foundries
nuisance dust mask: protection against nuisance, non-toxic dust, powders (e.g. sanding), and landscaping (e.g. pollen)
- not suitable for use with toxic or hazardous air contaminants
  (e.g. paint spray, fumes, gases, vapors)

Warnings:

Wearer must read fitting instructions and use limitations before use.
These respirators do not protect against risk of contracting disease or infection.
Before use, wearer must be trained in proper use in accordance with applicable safety and health standards for contaminant and exposure level in work area.
